In Travel Insurance why is there a large difference in premiums when the policies are similar? I have been comparing travel insurance for two people under 60 for four days in europe. I have checked the excess details and there is no considerable difference between the different insurers. The policies I viewed are almost identicle and where I have seen differences, they are negligible. So why have I seen policies with premiums as high as £30 and some low as £6-£7 (and the insurance is covered by big insurers for the low ones I found too). I looked at the small print and again from what I could make of it, there was no considerable difference. What's the difference then? What am I missing? and if it is as black and white as I can see, then is it worth me just buying the insurance at the cost of £7?
What is the best travel insurance company to use? Im going away for a month in december to Australlia and need travel insurance. Does anyone know of any good companys. Tried the comparing websites and the cheapest one seems to be big blue cover and oinc.com but they dont have very good reviews. Any help is greatfully recieved
where can i get basic cheap travel insurance please? im going on a 19 day cruise and i want insurance to cover personal injury and very little else. im not concerned about the value of the cruise as i didnt have to pay for it. im not concerned even, about my luggage. its easily replacable. so comparing it to car insurance i would want something like third party fire and theft. if you see what i mean. thanks
Do i need extra travel insurance? I have a pretty atandard one, but i will be doing adventure stuff while im away, horse riding diving etc. but nothing like bungee jumping. i compared my insurance to the one the company offers, and they have the same categories i.e . none for 'adventure sports' or activities like the one im doing. do u think i need extra insurance for these though? if i got hurt while riding, would i be covered?? anybody? :)
Need to find travel insurance -- help!? My fiance and I are going on our honeymoon to Jamaica in October and we need to get travel insurance. We'll be there from 10/6-10/13. We are flying with United/US Airways, which is part of the reason we want insurance (in the event of a cancelled flight). Mostly we are just looking for something that will protect our trip/costs in the event that something is cancelled or delayed or something (not necessarily travel medical insurance). I've been looking at the various travel insurance sites and comparing plans/prices, but I have no idea what I'm looking for. I know if a price is too much or not, but as far as coverage I want/need/etc. I'm clueless. Help!!!
Best Travel Insurance for Phuket? We are heading off to Phuket at the end of January 09 for about 10 days and just wanted to get others feedback on the best travel insurance for 2 adults from Australia to Phuket. I have looked at the "compare prices" websites, but just wanted to get some fellow yahooers feedback on their experiences. Cheers JZ
Looking for travel insurance? Hi I am 18 and so me and my friend have decided to go on holiday together to zante. However, I have to buy my own travel insurance as the lady in the travel agents said I would be able to get it cheaper elsewhere rather than buying their travel insurance. But as I have never had to look for travel insurance before I am completely confused. I have looked on the compare sites and have had some come up for £6's however I do not know whether to trust them as I do not know whether they are legitimate. I wanted to cover cancellation, baggage, spending money and not sure what else. Could someone please help me pick a legitimate travel insurance which is fairly cheap. Thank you so much for your help. I live in the UK
Travel Insurance to US? Hi all, My parents (aged 62 and 63) are planning to travel to United States on a Visitor's VISA for the first time. I bought the ticket for them but am stuck when asked to choose the Travel Insurance. I went through a number of insurance companies to get a better travel insurance for my parents (the main thing i am looking at is to cover good Medical treatment, including I.P and O.P as well). I'm stuck now on what to choose. Can someone who had earlier experience on the subject, please advise me on which travel insurance is proper for my parents? Also please do let me know how your answer (the insurance company) is better compared to others.. Thank you all in advance.. Everybody have a great day!!!!
Why ask questions about Americans travel habits and then pick the answer that fulfils a stereotype? I have seen many questions that ask about the fact that Americans don't travel as much as other nationalities. There were many good thoughtful answers such as the following: The reason why so many Americans don't travel abroad is because they have no money or enough vacation time to do so. It is not unusual for Americans to work 60 hours a week, without any "benefits" such as health insurance, paid vacations, or even enough salary to get by. That's also the main reason people join the military, because they want to see the world. Plus, traveling from the US is extremely expensive compared to the rates we have in Europe. And last, but not least, we are talking about extreme distances as well. Yet the asker seems to always pick the answer of Ameicans hating other countries and cultures, being scared of travel etc...I mean, why bother to ask? Why broadcast more stereotypes? Doesn't this show a bias and closed mindedness - just what you accuse the Americans of?
complaint on ICICI Lombard health insurance.? My parents are in Canada have taken icici lombard overseas travel insurance for a period of 180 days for which we have paid a premium of Rs.19952 each. The policy is expiring on 28 th Feb 2010.Now we are planning to renew it further for a period of 70 days till 10th of May 2010.While enquiring for this, the icici people are telling to pay a premium of Rs.14300 each.which we think is high compared to what they had charged for 180 days. in these 180 days there were no clams from our side.kindly advice me what to do?
How much does your teen's (19 y.o.) car insurance cost? My dad's been footing the bill for my car insurance the past few years. Now that I've been driving for a while and got an internship, he wants me to pay. I'm not complaining, but I'm just want to compare how much you pay for your insurance (if you're a teen) or how much you pay for your teen. Also, I've not been involved in any accidents at all.. and no tickets as well, including parking tickets. For three vehicles and a travel trailer, my portion of the insurance is about 55% of the entire bill with a brand new car on the list. ** The brand new car is not my vehicle.
Are Scooters Safe to travel with? Because paying $4.30 per gallon for a car is unappealing, I believe my first vehicle won't be a automobile, but rather a Vespa scooter (150cc). Compare 100 miles/gallon to 25-30 miles/gallon and cheaper insurance. I am also prepared to drive in all weather. However, I want to be safe. Two things scare me: 1.) Scooter being stolen 2.) Not being seen on the road Should I buy a scooter?
Is airplane travel REALLY safer than automobile travel? And what is good drug for flying? I hate flying on airplanes. I have flown a LOT in my lifetime. My parents took me on a lot of vacations with air travel and I've flown a lot in the military and after. The older and older I get, the more I fear it. To the point that when I go on business trips every other year now, I am almost in a low state of panic the entire flight. Last year, I got Xanax prescribed by my doctor, but I wasn't that impressed with it's calming qualities. In fact, I took probably 5 Xanax before I was even remotely feeling calmer. So I have two questions: 1) I often hear that air travel is safer than automobile travel, but I feel that this analysis could be misleading. Here are a couple of reasons why: a) In flights that go wrong, you usually die. In automobile accidents you sometimes die but are often just injured. When they compare air safety vs. car safety are they just comparing accidents with accidents or are they comparing deaths to deaths? b) When they compare air safety vs. auto safety, they are just using numbers from the population as a whole. However, we all know that there is a HUGE difference in safety between different groups of drivers. In fact, the insurance companies base their rates on some of these differences. So if you compare deaths of air safety passengers to the deaths of the SAFEST group of drivers, does air safety still rank favorably? 3) Lastly, when you drive an automobile, YOU personally have a huge contributing factor to the outcome of the safety of the drive. When you fly in an airplane, you give total control over to people that you don't know and in most cases, never meet or see! Would you drive in an auto with people you didn't know or couldn't see? 2) Question #2 pertains to drugs that calm fear of flying... What do you guys recommend that actually works? I don't care what the side effects are. And don't recommend Xanax, because I already told you that it sucks.
What have been the growth trends for people making purchase on the net? In particular I want to see how internet transactions have grown over the past 5 years and where they are predicted to go in next 5 years Globally, in the US and in Australia. I am also looking to find any statistics on what proportion of general insurance services are purchased on the web in the USA, Globally and in Australia. It would be great to find some information on predicted growth of financial services being used online in particular general insurance products. I would also like to find out how the use of the web for financial services transactions compares with other industries such as travel and consumer goods etc.

So why are the Big Health insurers against Canadian style Health insurance? The following story was posted in AP News today. My question is if insurers don't want an Obama Healthcare System that is socialized and a far cry from the "Best medical system in the world", then why are insurers content to send the insured overseas for "knee-replacements" and "heart by-pass" operations? I'm for Obama's plan and KEEPING AMERICAN JOBS HERE !!! (i.e. doctors, nurses and support staff). Screw the insurance companies as they have us for so long ! Insurers aim to save from overseas medical tourism Costa Rican Dr. Luis Obando prepares to perform a root canal on Bill Jones, of Dallas, Texas, at Meza Dental Care in San Jose, Costa Rica. Jones said he elected to have the surgery in Costa Rica because he was able to save substantially compared to what he would have had to pay in the USA. Enlarge image Enlarge By Kent Gilbert, AP Costa Rican Dr. COSTS, SAVINGS Medical tourism trips offer steep savings, but they don't pack enough financial might to play a key role in President Obama's push to lower U.S. health care costs. Medical travel cost U.S. health care providers about $5.1 billion in business in 2007, according to estimates by Paul Keckley, executive director of the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions. While significant, that amounts to less than 1% of the $2.36 trillion spent on health care in the United States that year. Medical tourism can yield savings of as much as 80% on some procedures compared to care in the United States. But traveling isn't for everyone and these trips are generally not an option for emergencies. A patient's willingness to travel for non-emergency care often depends on the savings at stake. With a low deductible and no incentives from an insurer or employer to travel, a patient may have little motivation to make a trip. Any result from the Washington reform push is unlikely to affect medical tourism, Keckley said, because it won't lower costs enough to erase price gaps with foreign care providers. By Tom Murphy, The Associated Press Elizabeth Kunz left her dentist's office this spring with a mouth full of problems and no way to pay for them. The South Carolina resident went out of her way, literally, to find a solution, which turned out to be in Central America. Her trip to the tropics is part of a health insurance experiment for trimming medical costs: overseas care. As Washington searches for ways to tame the country's escalating health care costs, more insurers are offering networks of surgeons and dentists in places like India and Costa Rica, where costs can be as much as 80% less than in America. Until recently, most Americans traveling abroad for cheaper non-emergency medical care were either uninsured or wealthy. But the profile of medical tourists is changing. Now, they are more likely to be people covered by private insurers, which are looking to keep costs from spiraling out of control. The four largest commercial U.S. health insurers — with enrollments totaling nearly 100 million people — have either launched pilot programs offering overseas travel or explored it. Several smaller insurers and brokers also have introduced travel options for hundreds of employers around the country. FIND MORE STORIES IN: South Carolina | Costa Rica | PricewaterhouseCoopers | Southern Methodist University | Aetna | Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association | Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu | Frequent flyer program Growth has been slow in part because some patients and employers have concerns about care quality and legal responsibility if something goes wrong. Plus, patients who have traditional plans with low deductibles may have little incentive to take a trip. But a growing number of consumers with high-deductible plans, which make patients pay more out of pocket, could make these trips more inviting. In the meantime, the insurance industry's embrace of overseas care has had a pleasant side effect at home: some U.S. care providers are offering price breaks to counter the foreign competition. This domestic competition and the slumping economy have led to slower growth for medical tourism over the past year, as patients put off elective procedures that involve big out of pocket costs, said Paul Keckley, executive director of the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions. Last year, the center estimated that 6 million Americans would make medical tourism trips in 2010. But Keckley has since shaved that projection to about 1.6 million people. Still, that more than doubles the roughly 750,000 Americans who traveled abroad in 2007, the last year for which Deloitte had actual numbers. Keckley expects the medical tourism industry to recover, as more health insur

Should everyone pay the same in taxes? I don't think so. I think the rich should pay more. Why? Because the rich gets more from the government. Consider defense, for example, which makes up 20% of the budget. Defending the country benefits everyone; but it benefits the rich more, because they have more to defend. It's the same principle as insurance: if you have a bigger house or a fancier car, you pay more to insure it. Investments in the nation's infrastructure-- transportation, education, research & development, energy, police subsidies, the courts, etc.-- again are more useful the more you have. The interstates and airports benefit interstate commerce and people who can travel, not ghetto dwellers. Energy is used disproportionately by the rich and by industry. As for public education, the better public schools are the ones attended by the moderately well off. The very well off ship their offspring off to private schools; but it is their companies that benefit from a well-educated public. (If you don't think that's a benefit, go start up an engineering firm, or even a factory, in El Salvador. Or Watts.) The FDIC and the S&L bailout obviously most benefit investors and large depositors. A neat example: a smooth operator bought a failing S&L for $350 million, then received $2 billion from the government to help resurrect it. Beyond all this, the federal budget is top-heavy with corporate welfare. Counting tax breaks and expenditures, corporations and the rich snuffle up over $400 billion a year-- compare that to the $1400 budget, or the $116 billion spent on programs for the poor.
Travelling to turkey (maybe) anything I should watch out for? I would like to hear from anyone who has been to Turkey before for some advice.. I may be going to Turkey for a week on holiday and I was wondering if there is anything I should look out for such as: * Anti maleria * Repellents for insect bites * Whether to boil water or drink on bottled water * Earthquakes * Is the country safe for tourist * State of the country - i.e. are they relatively peaceful compared to rest of middles east. * Local customs and politeness - such as not making specific hand gestures or showing soles of feet * Travel insurance * Temperature around September I know I sound ignorant about the place but that's because I am ignorant...I've never been...I'm not a confident traveller and always like to know what to expect before I go. Thanks
Should we go to Thailand with Air asia? I have booked tickets to go to Thailand in May for my daughters wedding with Air asia. Now I'm worried because I did a review search and there are many negative reviews on air asia. Can anyone advise me if they have travelled with Air asia and what your personal experience was like. The tickets cost me $1000 aus for 2 adults and 1 child, compared to what they would cost if we went with another carrier, which would be around triple that price. I'm not trying to be scabby but I'm just not very rich although it is my daughters wedding. I am a single mum and still have to pay for accommodation yet. I do have travel insurance so I may be able to get my money back if I come up with a good excuse or even sell the tickets on ebay to some other poor unsuspecting victim if the airline is crappy. thanks anyone who may know about Airasia
If you compare Fabian Socialism to our Gov't today, don't you agree they resemble each other? Fabian Socialism: We have recently seen a greater push toward socialism, though few realize it. The government is assuming more and more responsibility for and authority over the economy, all under the guise of protecting the people from potentially unscrupulous free marketeers. We are being moved yet another step closer to the dream-society of the Fabians. Of course, these are simply steps, essential parts to a much broader agenda, one that is authoritarian in nature and execution, even the centrally planned economy is a mere step, not the end product. It is all carefully crafted, manufactured to ensure the most popular support possible for "people-friendly" solutions while instituting a fraudulent system of central control over the unsuspecting public. The system has been marketed to the public, one specific component at a time, each component essential to the completion of the whole and that is the brilliance of this gradual imposition of Fabian Socialism in this country. The greatest bulwark against tyranny in America has always been the system of private ownership and free enterprise, it is the cornerstone of our system of government and without it our freedoms and liberty are in jeopardy. Central economic planning is, in a very basic sense, the keystone to Fabian Socialism, for in order for it to succeed, central State planning and control must replace the system of free enterprise. While it was not necessary for the State to actually own or directly control all the elements in the economy it is enough for the State to have the right to assert itself in any area that it deems necessary. The Fabians called it "the democratization of economic power", in other words socialized and centralized control over economic direction within the country. In 1942, Stuart Chase, in his book "The Road We Are Traveling" spelled out the system of planning the Fabians had in mind; the interesting thing is to look at that plan in comparison to 2008 America. 1. Strong, centralized government. 2. Powerful Executive at the expense of Congress and the Judicial. 3. Government controlled banking, credit and securities exchange. 4. Government control over employment. 5. Unemployment insurance, old age pensions. 6. Universal medical care, food and housing programs. 7. Access to unlimited government borrowing. 8. A managed monetary system. 9. Government control over foreign trade. 10. Government control over natural energy sources, transportation and agricultural production. 11. Government regulation of labor. 12. Youth camps devoted to health discipline, community service and ideological teaching consistent with those of the authorities. 13. Heavy progressive taxation. It should be evident that while Socialist no longer use the name that the plan is Socialism at its heart. The Fabian Socialist Revolution began in earnest in this country in 1933 with the imposition of the Welfare State and has been steadily progressing since. Those who are promoting this system, whether in the Republican Party or Democratic Party, are nothing less than Traitors, guilty of a type of high treason that deserves the most punitive penalty for such treachery. Listen carefully to the propositions of both McCain and Obama; I suspect that you will quickly find both of their positions are not only similar, but propose in essence and detail the Fabian Socialist construct. The system that these marauders are imposing upon us will ultimately alter our system of government beyond recognition.

Does the fact that no time travelers (from the future) are here now prove that it will never be possible? I would imagine if any time-travelers were here they would make themselves known BUT maybe time trevelers are very discreet or maybe they are paranoid about having their machine stolen and them getting stranded here in 2010 because it probably totally sucks ass now compared to the future. So maybe they are all over the place but just being hush-hush. But whenever time-travel is possible, I would bet that either time-travel roadside assistance or Time-Travel-Automobile Insurance would be a cash cow because like i said time travelers are probably paranoid as hell about getting stuck here with our dumb asses and they would probably insist on having a backup plan - you know like insurance that says "If I am not back here by noon on dec 3 1998 please come to the waffle house on hwy 96 on dec 2 1998 because I am stranded in 1998 and that cher song "Do you believe in life after love" is f-ing everywhere I am going to blow my brains out so come and get me because my great-great-great grandad's cousin borrowed my car and went back to murder his ex wife while she was still in grade school and he never brought it back" Policy for Time Travelers. I think I could get a couple hundred bucks per policy - AND if their check bounces - I send thier time machine to the parking lot of a Cher concert in 1998 over and over again until the cough it up. I'm just thinking that would be a good business model to have on-hand when people start using the machines on a wholesale basis. Also I would think Time-Travel On Star would be handy too just to make sure people don't bump into themselves thirty years ago and rip the space-time continuum and mashind all dimensions into a bubbly frothing bowl of guts and anger; and more specifically their soul would invert and become a bluish-white quasar pulsating in the sky 300' above the ground. Touche' deep thinker you got me.
What expenses may be considered "extraordinary expenses"? I'm negotiating an agreement for extraordinary expenses. I'm the paying parent. Child support is not a problem but for extraordinary expenses we can't agree. The child is 2 months old. Comparing incomes, I must pay 82% and she 18%. She will live in another country and take the baby with her. She wants: - A car, I must pay 100% of it and 82% of gas, insurance, repairs, etc. - 100% childcare (I agree). - 82% of any toys she'll buy - 100% for extra classes (piano, gim, etc). - yearly vacations for the baby: 82% of tickets and extras. As the baby can't travel alone, she is "forced" to go and claims 100% of her tickets and expenses. - 100% health care. (In Canada the baby has my extended health & dental care, but not outside Canada). - $500/month for tuition funds for baby's post-secondary. We never married, only lived together 6 months. Can I fight any of these expenses? Are they fair considering she's taking the baby so far I won't be able to pay ticket to visit my baby?

what are the chance of airplane crashing?(different question)? Everyone says that planes are a lot more safer than cars, im still skeptical about that, because that really depends on whos driving. I just read an article in yahoo that pilots are flying tired and so is its crew, so I started doing some research, one that cought my attention was this... "When measured on a passenger-distance calculation, air travel is the safest form of transportation available: these figures are the ones mentioned by the air industry when quoting statistics on air safety. When compared against all other modes of transport on a fatality PER MILE basis air transport is the safest - six times safer than traveling by car and twice as safe as rail."[5] However, when measured by fatalities PER PERSON transported, buses are the safest form of transportation and the number of air travel fatalities per person are surpassed ONLY by bicycles and motorcycles. This statistic is the one used by the insurance industry when calculating insurance rates for air travel.[6] For every billion kilometers traveled, trains have a fatality rate 12 times larger than air travel, while automobiles have a fatality rate 62 times larger. On the other hand, for every billion journeys, buses are the safest form of transportation. By the last measure air transportation is three times more dangerous than car transportation and almost 30 times more dangerous than bus." this is the pthe website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plane_crash now anybody tell me is it really (generally speaking) safe to fly"???
Which of these reasons most convinced McCain to speak out in favor of the rich paying higher taxes? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8EyGpOU3qM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2JPbQOHEkY For more than a century it's been generally recognized that the best taxes (admittedly this is an expression reminiscent of "the most pleasant death" or "the funniest Family Circus cartoon") are progressive-- that is, proportionate to income. Lately, however, it's become fashionable to question this. Various Republican leaders have trotted out the idea of a flat tax, meaning a fixed percentage of income tax levied on everyone. And in their hearts they may be anxious to emulate Maggie Thatcher's poll tax-- a single amount that everyone must pay. Isn't that more fair? Shouldn't everyone pay the same amount? In a word-- no. It's not more fair; it's appallingly unfair. Why? The rich should pay more taxes, because the rich get more from the government. Consider defense, for example, which makes up 20% of the budget. Defending the country benefits everyone; but it benefits the rich more, because they have more to defend. It's the same principle as insurance: if you have a bigger house or a fancier car, you pay more to insure it. Social security payments, which make up another 20% of the budget, are dependent on income-- if you've put more into the system, you get higher payments when you retire. Where's all that money go? There's direct subsidies to agribusiness ($18 billion a year), to export companies, to maritime shippers, and to various industries-- airlines, nuclear power companies, timber companies, mining companies, automakers, drug companies. There's billions of dollars in military waste and fraud. And there's untold billions in tax credits, deductions, and loopholes. Accelerated depreciation alone, for instance, is estimated to cost the Treasury $37 billion a year-- billions more than the mortgage interest deduction. (Which itself benefits the people with the biggest mortgages. But we should encourage home ownership, shouldn't we? Well, Canada has no interest deduction, but has about the same rate of home ownership.) How about social spending? Well, putting aside the merely religious consideration that the richest nation on the planet can well afford to lob a few farthings at the hungry, I'd argue that it's social spending-- the New Deal-- that's kept this country capitalistic. Tempting as it is for the rich to take all the wealth of a country, it's really not wise to leave the poor with no stake in the system, and every reason to agitate for imposing a new system of their own. Think of social spending as insurance against violent revolution-- and again, like any insurance, it's of most benefit to those with the biggest boodle. (See also my page on whether welfare does any good). Who gets to sit on the tax? Come election season, Steve Forbes, among other millionaires, will be pushing plans for a flat tax. These proposals need to be absorbed with a carload of salt. A plan where everyone's taxes are lowered is of course simply a tax cut. Here, once again, the question to ask as a voter and citizen is, what government services do you want to cut? Somehow I don't think Steve is proposing to slash corporate welfare or defense. It's more likely a way to attempt to cut social spending through the back door. People like to hear about tax cuts; they don't like to hear about service cuts, even though they're financially equivalent. A revenue-neutral plan won't change total receipts any-- it'll just redistribute it. Here you have to ask, who gets shafted? You can't exactly make the poor pay more taxes-- they don't have the money. That leaves only one way to flatten the tax rates-- that is, reduce the taxes the rich pay: soak the middle class. If tax rates go down on the rich, and we're not cutting total taxes, the middle c Nice try, Steel Magnolia, but the rich should pay more is EXACTLY what McCain said in the videos I posted. Why is it that people in every developed nation other than US can get much better healthcare than US itself? I mean IT CAN HAZ the biggest economy in the world that cannot even begin to compare with the runner ups and yet the runner ups are the ones who can spend more $$$$$ per citizen on healthcare than the States. I mean why are we letting these tinier economies kick us around with their wider health coverage without needing to buy insurance when we generate so much more income every year? Why can't every adolescent in the country have braces and super beautiful teeth when English more of whom have much worse teeth get to fix that at no extra cost? Shouldn't we be able to travel anywhere in the world and know that if we get a heart attack from overeating on their local cuisine we are backed by the USA's healthcare coverage? Or should we be begging these countries we visit for footing the medical bill?
Why are most Americans poor? compared to Britian and Europe? A large percentage have never been abroad and most likely never will unlike the British who travel around Europe even if they come from a poor background. Only the very rich come to England. You health care system is appalling which 50% of the population cannot afford insurance. Anything is cheaper as most people can not afford buy things. People from England can travel the world and get a good exchange rate for the pound unlike the dollar.
Would a 1974 vw Super Sunbug make a good daily driver? Hello Im a 23 yr old college student who recently purchased a 1974 Super Beetle (Sunbug) for college. I had another car but it's gone now. I've wanted one of these cars since I was in a car seat at two years old. It's my dream car. Even after years of research there's alot I would love to learn from this car. The insurance is cheap and so is the parts compared to my 2002 Chrysler Sebring. I love it. But I would like the opinions of those who owns one or has owned one. Now here comes the dilemma. My college is approx. 330 mi away from my home. I lost other car and sternly refuse to buy another car for my own personal reasons. I only want to drive bugs from now on. My first attempt to travel ended tragically on the highway. The car did fine until about halfway there and blow a gasket. The car had a oil leak which caused the belt to slip off and over heat the car. The car has been repaired since then but my enthusiasm hasn't for the one time commute hasn't. My family has thought about renting a uhaul dolly to get it there or following me as I creep up the highway at 55mph. But even so, once I get back to college what would expected of the a Super Beetle as a daily driver? What are some precautions and daily check ups I can do to keep my bug alive?

Should I accept job offer? I currently work for a health insurance company in Philadelphia, PA (we'll label that Job A). I recently got a job offer at MTV in NY (we'll label that Job B). I'm wondering if it's worth accepting given the pros and cons list provided below. ***** Job A ***** + working there for 1.5 years + co-workers are great + current management is relaxed and very flexible + on-site gym is a nice perk + benefits aren't bad. typical medical, dental, vision, 10 paid holidays (depending on year) + 7.5 hr per day (37.5 hr per week) instead of the typical 8 hr per day (40 hr per week). my typical day is from 9 AM - 5 PM, with a 30 min lunch break. + 135 total hrs to be used for either personal, vacation and sick days, which breaks down to 18 days. we're also allowed to carry over up to 37.5 hrs (5 days) of unused time. + we are allowed to "buy" an extra 5 days of vacation, which is essentially unpaid time off. we can "return" any unused days back to the company and get our money back. ~ taking Septa bus is cheap, but takes anywhere from 30 - 50 minute commute one way due to traffic and various bus stops ~ although the work isn't too boring due to various projects, i would like to work in a different industry. - company is unstable due to economy, healthcare reform and a pretty huge business venture that failed. as a result, there has been constant internal reorganization, layoffs, employees leaving for other jobs and employees taking early retirement packages. There is supposedly another round of layoffs this coming June. - as a result of above, company's profit margins are very slim. there were no salary increases and only a 1% bonus given regardless of positive or negative performance review. - as a result of stability concerns, work environment isn't the greatest and employee morale is low - tuition reimbursement went from unlimited annually to $3000 annually. :( ***** Job B ***** + MTV! lol. for me, it's an industry change from healthcare to media, which i think i would enjoy. + no official dress code; most employees wear jeans, sneakers and t-shirts to work everyday unless you have a meeting w/ clients, upper management, etc + typical medical, dental and vision packages, 10 paid holidays + every other Friday off in summer from Memorial Day through Labor Day + 10 vacation days, 4 personal days and 10 sick days = 24 days off per year. allowed to carryover half of any unused time as long as it does not exceed 10 days. + annual 5% bonus target (depending on own performance and company performance). same applies for salary increases + the team and the bosses (i met with directors, VP and SVP) seemed very relaxed and easy-going. + compared to Job A, tuition reimbursement is $10,000 annually ~ salary isn't exactly what i was looking for, especially for a position in NY and is only a couple thousand more than what i currently make. ~ compared to my current job, core hours are from 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM (8 hour work, 1 hour lunch), but can leave early if work is completed and/or if lunch isn't taken away from desk - TRAVEL!! if i commute from Philly, i'm looking at a 2.5 hours one way (1/2 hour to get to bus station, 1.5 - 2 hours for bus ride to NY). so i'm looking at 5 hours spent each day on commuting. i am looking into possibly renting a studio to stay a couple nights of the week. so a typical day would be me leaving home by 6:30, catch a bus or train around 7 - 7:30 AM, get to NY by 9 - 9:30. then assuming i leave offices at 6:30, catch bus/train at 7 PM, back in philly by 9 PM and home around 9:30 PM. repeat for remaining days of the week. - i have a 1 year old daughter and traveling or staying in a studio in NY will result in loss of family time. to comprimise, i could stay in NY mon-thurs. the only time i would travel is monday morning, thursday night back to Philly and Friday back to and from work. - the difference in salary and then some will go right back into traveling and/or rent in NY. - no relocation reimbursement both jobs are pretty similar, the biggest difference is a title change. i was a consultant before traveling to various cities, but that was only traveling at the beginning and the end of the week with all expenses paid. i really would like to accept as i want a change in industry, which will open doors to other opportunities outside of healthcare. but i also don't know how long i'll last if i have to travel everday. the team and upper management really liked me, but can't negotiate a higher salary or other benefits due to budget constraints. if i decline, they'll go with a back up candidate. what are your thoughts and suggestions? if you need any additional details, let me know.
Low income with motoring expenses that cripple me.Help? I am currently employed in the south east of the country on a little more than the minimum wage. My company requires that I use my own vehicle for work. I travel in excess of 400miles a week on business and I am paid 25p per mile expenses, which just covers fuel. My rent, whilst normal for the area is high when compared to the rest of the country, at £600 pm for a one bed flat. I am aware that I can get tax releif through HMRC Mileage Allowance Relief scheme. Is there anything else I can claim for like vehicle running costs, cost of vehicle, business insurance etc, as were it not for the job I would have little need for the vehicle. I am becoming desperate as I have to service and MOT the vehicle soon and know that the work required is going to be extensive and expensive then have tax and insurance renewals soon after. I am closely approaching the point where I can not afford to work!!! Thanks in advance for your response.
Moving on from an ex? > > > > > > > > > Relationships & Dating Moving on I split with my ex 5 months ago it was a nasty break up and he has to go to court, the problem is I cant forget about him. I go out a lot with friends and meet loads of men whilst out get a fair bit of attention but when it comes down to it I cant bring myself to go out with them. Went out with one 3 times he kept sending me really nice texts and was a real gentleman but I compared him unfavourably with my ex the same as I always do. I feel so bad and really want to forget about him but no matter what I do nothing works I thought if I went out with this other man I might be able to forget him and move on but not so. I really want to contact my ex but know I shouldnt he cant contact me because of bail conditions. The most annoying thing is that when I was with him I wanted out of the relationship had been with him 5 years told him it was over and thats when he turned nasty. Is it better to go to college with a car or with a bus? Im still debating about my fourth year/last year in college. I found out that I could purchase a bus pass for only $95 for the YEAR. Or I can drive to college. Here are the pros and cons. Car (pros): -Get to school faster (in ~30-40 mins). -Freedom, can leave when you want -Can leave some of your belongings Cars (cons): -expensive, gas station every 10 days (~$40 each time to fill up empty gas tank) -Got to pay for parking permit per trimester (~$160 x 3 for the year) -Car maintenance: breaks, lights, insurance, and more. -Cannot use carpool lane since ill be driving alone, maybe stuck in traffic. Bus (pros): -cheap, only $95 for the year compared to the average monthly bus pass of $55. -economic method, can read, sleep, and study. -saves gas and $$$ - bus come every 30mins to 60mins. Bus (cons): -travel time is long, about 2 hours each way -transfer point/center gotta wait for the next bus. -can get crowded, people talking. -still got to walk home once bus reaches bus stop -I might get tired from this bus travel. So which method is better to go to college?
A few questions for conservatives about where they stand on certain issues. All answers are appreciated...? It seems that one of the common tenets beheld by Tea Party supporters is that Obama's presidency marks a shift towards socialism and, by extension, a repression of liberty. So where do you stand on these issues? Legalization of marijuana? Marijuana has been shown to be less harmful than both tobacco and alcohol. Euthanasia? Why shouldn't one be allowed to end his own life? Recently, Glenn Beck attacked the campaign in Canada to legalize euthanasia by comparing it to Nazism. Clip can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFWOLSIhYMg Compulsory education? One of the more controversial aspects of the health care bill was a mandate requiring people to purchase health insurance. Conservatives attacked this, saying a tax levied upon inactivity is a breach of liberty, which is tantamount to socialism/fascism/whatever. However, in every state if you don't send your children to school you can fined or in some states even jailed--and as anyone with a school-aged child knows, public education isn't free. But I've never seen Tea Partyers address this putative breach of liberty, let alone deem it "socialist." Patriot Act? Yeah, I know, Obama didn't repeal it (and trust me, as a liberal I'm not happy about that), but I'm curious where YOU stand. Support it? It does seem like a much more egregious violation of liberty than taxes. Gay marriage? In California a judged overturned proposition 8, claiming there was no rational basis to deny gays/lesbians the right to marry. Sure, it was democratic (70% supported Prop 8), but so were bans on interracial marriage in the South. Travel restrictions to people infected with HIV? Upon entering the Oval Office, Obama ended restrictions of travel to those who are HIV-positive. This is a classic case of individual rights/liberty vs. the common good. Where do you stand? I won't ask about abortion. Although I'm pro-choice, I think it's unfair to frame it as an issue of liberty, because it is plausible to view the matter as one of life and death. On a tangential note, I'm with you when it comes to firearms. But I've got one more for you: taxes and the debt. Tea Partyers are very adamant about reducing the debt. They're also vocal about decreasing taxes. While the Laffer Curve does predict that it is feasible to reduce taxes and reduce revenue if taxes, it was shown during the Reagan administration that this was not the case. Reagan cut the top marginal tax rate from 70% to 28%. To offset it, he dipped into social security; nevertheless, his fiscal policy caused the national debt to triple. So my question to you is, how do you reconcile tax cuts with reducing the deficit? I understand you want to reduce government spending, but only 40% of the spending is discretionary (the rest includes things like interest on the debt, social security, etc.), and even if you cut ALL discretionary (including eliminating the military), we'll still be adding to the debt. @ Casey "you seem to not know the difference between republicans, and conservatives" I don't see how you come to that conclusion, considering I didn't use the word "republican" once. Please stop dodging my question. If you consider yourself a small government conservative, this question applies to you. Thanks and hope you revise your answer.
Are right wing nuts worse than the left wing nuts? I am trying to remember what the left wing nuts - said about Bush, and it is was better or worse than what the current right wing nuts say about Obama. For instance, we laughed at his mannerisms - but why not when he said great stuff like putting food on your family? But did we complain when Bush ate a hamburger? Did we complain when he traveled to Africa? Consider all the things that we got right: 1) Torture. First the pubs said it didn't happen. Then there were pictures, then there were the admissions, then the memos. 2) No Weapons of Mass destruction. Enough said. 3) The war in Iraq would be costly, and be a breeding ground for terrorists. All true, according to a peer reviewed Lancet Article that estimated a half million dead and the Bush Administration's own pentagon reports. 4) Deregulation would cause chaos and another Great Depression. OK, I am exaggerating here, but no true liberal was a fan of deregulation. 5) Bush's cronyism would cause the government to break down. Katrina, e coli outbreaks, orgies at Interior department, corruption in nearly all the other departments. 6) The decision to go to hydrogen would delay hybrid and electric car technology. Mostly true, but also due to the mistakes of the car companies. 7) Bush's picks would make abortion illegal - wrong about that one. 8) Bush would start a draft - wrong again - but, that's only because he lost support for invading Iran. 9) The lack of energy policy would doom us. Exaggerated, but fine. 10) Global Warming would destroy us all. Just wait. 11) Lack of government health plan would imperil many people. True, 40 odd million still lack health insurance. 12) Free market trade policy would continue the deterioration of our manufacturing. True. 13) Ignoring security would cause us problems with Bin Laden (Clinton and his staff wrote memo after memo saying Bin Laden was the problem, while the administration put Iraq at the top of their agenda, according to Dick Clark and others) 14) Bush would destroy the constitution (He tried to get rid of Haebas Corpus, the 8th and 5th amendments and so on. As far as we know, only a handful were denied these rights, but he set a dangerous precedent. Even some of his own supreme court picks ruled against him.). 15) He would rescind the election. False. Now compare it to the right wing nuts, perhaps under Carter. We still have our guns, we don't live in a totalitarian state, the UN is not coming over the borders, the FED hasn't taken over (except some bankrupt banks), The economy is actually getting less worse by the day, and all that ridiculous nonsense about putting mustard on your hamburger (Hannity), bowing, going to Africa, redoing the Washington Mall, the inauguration, the puppy incident, the photo over New York and blah blah blah. Pure nonsense.
My husband is driving me crazy!!? He is really making me feel looney tunes! We have only been married for 7 mo. but been together for 3 years. We have a 15 mo. old little girl. He works full time, I work pt and contribute my share to the household. We never have any money to just "spend" (vacation, dates, travel, alone time.. ect) Im also in college and will be done in a few weeks! I already got this amazing new job just waiting to start, the salary is gonna be amazing! (compared to what I make now) Basically right now between the 2 of us, we are bringing in about 300 a week, no rent, just bills. (water, power, cable, phone, internet, car insurance) We split that. But he is so miserable and "mean" acting all of the time!! When he gets off of work he is a total jerk! Always griping, complaining about no money, ect... I try to reassure him that I will be starting my new job soon but he just acts like he doesnt believe me!! Like the extra money isnt gonna help! I don't know what he is so unhappy about! When he comes home, he just wants to go next door to his buds (my cousins) house and stay forever! like he is avoiding me! But I dont do anything wrong, I give my half, take care of baby, clean, get groceries, ya know, the whole "wife" thing! I mean, he also does his "job" as a husband but still acts so unhappy and miserable! I don't know what to do! I have no one to talk to about it, and when I try to "talk" to him, about anything! (the weather, the news, ect... our baby, ) he just tunes me out to the television. Or he walks off (not realizing it) Its like Im talking to a brick wall and its killing my heart. He is tuning me out and i cannot take it, also he grips consistantly about things he has no control over. I have tried being more sexual to make him happy, giving him more time with his friends, ect.. nothing helps, I don't know if I can go on with him knowing that the new job is on the way and him not having any faith in me. What should I say to him? How can you make someone like that happy? I just want him to perk up! My dad will help us to watch her once I start full time.
Americans are twice unhealthy then Europeans? How about, American nation is 4 times unhealthy?? I am from Europe, livng in US for about 23 years now, traveling back and for. I honestly can say that, I NEVER saw an obese or very heavy overweight person in Europe. It seams to me that people here don't move enough physically, eat large amounts of wrong cheap foods (did you ever saw those people at the buffey style restaurant?). Eating at the wrong time, not caring about them selves, blaming emotional health for being unhealthy, but they make them selves that way by eating wrong way. AND of course, NOT HAVING HEALTH INSURANCE!!! TV and not able to connect to each other emotionally, killing the lonelines,(deasesed indepedence) are other factors. AND of course there are many other. "WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Nearly twice as many U.S. adults are obese compared to European, a key factor leading Americans to suffer more often from cancer, diabetes and other chronic ailments, a study released on Tuesday A.H........They are not obese, but overweight, but not as much overweight as much in this country. Sorry, do you research.
Should the ex wife borrow our car? Here's the deal: Five years ago, before my husband and I were married, we asked to use his ex's car to transport something to our house in one day. She very reluctantly agreed. We traveled about 250 miles in it in total, it was a long distance. A few months later, we asked again, and with major reluctancy, she provided us with it again. We thanked her and sent flowers. Since then, he and I were married and they have no relationship other than with their two sons. The eldest son, 19 just smashed his moms car in january, totalling it. His mom got another car. As my husband and his son were comparing notes, vacation for both my household, and the ex's household is happening at the same time. There is little or no communicastion between the households, however, the kids household believes he needs to oblige to requests, and his guilt gives in. The eldest son travels to hockey camp out of the city about 100 miles away 3 times per week. Since his mom is planning on going on vacation out of state to another state 9 hours away, during the same time as us, he is left with no car. His dad would usually drive him. His mom has contacted my ex advising she would like to borrow our car while we are away so she can lend her son her car. My husband and I are at major head butting here. I am COMPLETELY uncomfortable with this. Hence the "your a hypocrit" is thrown in my face "one rule for you, but something else for them" has begun. Im sooo uncomfortable as I have looked into the legal ramifications of insurance if something happens. And it's not good. I feel as if I am completely on trial here for not passing up the keys to something I am really uncomfortable doing, Even my own blood family would not get the keys. I tried to explain to my husband, my point of view, his guilt and feelings of abandoning his son are the only things he sees. His ex has complete custody and financial support over his boys. She should rent a car then. She has plenty of money. I am confident in my marriage, and my husband and I work as a team most always, but all this is making feel terribly guilty. My girl friend said "hey you have nothing to lose your hated when you give something and when you give nothing .....you have nothing to lose but a argument to not allow this to go on... but if the car does get banged up, the argument will be far bigger and all hell can break loose" My husband looks as at it like we are helping his son out, not the ex .... however ..... I don't believe the son will love his dad any less if he says no. Am I over reacting? All feedback is welcome :) When we used her car 5 years ago, they were on actual speaking terms, Now they are not, since the divorce and custody stuff which had nothing to do with me finalized things went majorly as most splits do: silent and the the kids dont see their dad that much as he is remarried and has a new family. However, if I would have known back then about what issues are caused on a legal level when you lend out your car, I would not have borrowed it. We really did get the third degree for a long time before and after using the car ... in addition, I don't trust this woman and her driving. The car she owned before had bang ups on it and never repaired for years, and really, I find her careless ..... and i worry about it. She lets her 14 year old son drive the car because she has had too much to drink while she visits other cabin goers, and I really am so uncomfortable with that ... and I am just not okay knowing that in the back of my head... i find it irresponsible. Look im not a *****, but in this situation, a car is a huge expense for me and I don't have the nerves to be dealing with the worry right now with two of us unemployed as a result of the recession, stressed to the limits and travelling to a job-interview/ vacation overseas because we can't get jobs in our fields.I feel like im going mad as no reason is good enough for them and im doubting myself ...putting other peoples wants and comfort before my own. grrrr! .. help :( Well I have to agree with some of you here, and others I don't as this is not a decision that I take lightly at all. It is our car. A $60k vehicle, and yes as the last person said insurance follows the owner of the car not the driver in the car they sit in.
Husband Job changing from employee to 1099? My husband has been with the same employer for 15 years. They started with over 50 employees and today they are down to just the owner and my husband. My husband has been managing the business and working and getting a set salary. The owner does not want to shut down the business but the overhead is getting high (the rent was raised 5 times higher at Jan 2009 which really hurt). The owner does not want to loose my husband and has offered to give him work and 1099 him, This would mean eliminating insurance, WC, and the high rent. He will lease my husband a company truck (for $1 a month) and refer the work to my husband and pay him has an independent contractor. My husband's employer gave him extra money to get a business licences. His job currently does not provide any sort of life/health/retirement benefits just a salary. I carry the health coverage and we have a retirement set up privately. Besides the tax (increased SS and Medicare deductions) is there anything else that is bad about being an independent contractor compared to the previous salary position he had. Local jobs are hard to come by and we have a disabled child and hate to move. The only other option is a job that is salaried which would mean my husband traveling 3-4 days a week out of town, which would be stressful. The work has been steady, just the overhead is high. It is the oldest business of its kind in our city and they have alot of repeat customers Ovehead went from 4k a month to 13k and for having one employee 13k a month is alot to pay. They still have average 15k month in profit, but after 13k overhead does not leave enough with 4k it was fine. One person in our city bought up most of the prime downtown and that is when the rent raised. It took 4 months to get a slightly smaller place but it was still higher rent. The owner also stated that if the situation changed, he would bring him in as a partner or re-instate the salary. I have no reason to not believe the owner. Several times there were smaller financial issues with the company and the owner always paid the employees and did not draw his own salary.

Do all USA Senators have problems with telling the truth? With economic troubles dominating the race, McCain opened the new line of criticism against Romney at his first event of the day in Fort Myers, Fla., and sought to shift the campaign back to his strength, national security, and away from Romney's, the economy. First, he slapped at Romney without naming him during a question-and-answer session with Floridians, saying: "Now, one of my opponents wanted to set a date for withdrawal that would have meant disaster." Minutes later to reporters, the Arizona senator was more direct: "If we surrender and wave a white flag, like Senator Clinton wants to do, and withdraw, as Governor Romney wanted to do, then there will be chaos, genocide, and the cost of American blood and treasure would be dramatically higher." Asked about the comment in Land O' Lakes, Fla., Romney bristled. "That's dishonest, to say that I have a specific date. That's simply wrong," he said. "That is not the case. I've never said that." The former Massachusetts governor added: "I know he's trying desperately to change the topic from the economy and trying to get back to Iraq, but to say something that's not accurate is simply wrong — and he knows better." Later in Sun City, Fla., McCain stuck to his assessment and said: "The apology is owed to the young men and women serving this nation in uniform." He said he was quoting Romney as favoring a "timetable" for withdrawal and argued that he was not misquoting Romney, saying, "Clearly, the impression was that he was ready to set a date for withdrawal." But Romney quotes circulated by McCain's campaign didn't show Romney making that exact comment — nor did aides back up McCain's earlier comment that suggested that Romney "wanted to set a date for withdrawal." In an interview with ABC News in 2007, Romney said: "There's no question that the president and (Iraqi) Prime Minister al-Maliki have to have a series of timetables and milestones that they speak about. But those shouldn't be for public pronouncement. You don't want the enemy to understand how long they have to wait in the weeds until you're going to be gone." While Romney has never set a public date for withdrawal, he has said that he agrees with Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, that U.S. troops could move to more of an oversight role in 2008. McCain, for his part, has been a staunch supporter of the Iraq war and advocated more troops on the ground for years before Bush embraced that position last year and ramped up the number of U.S. forces in Iraq. The buildup helped curb violence in Iraq, and McCain has not been shy about claiming credit for the strategy's success. Romney aides labeled McCain's charge "stunningly false," while McCain aides portrayed his Iraq comments as part of a broader effort in the coming days to question Romney's leadership, foreign policy experience and judgment. A former venture capitalist and business consultant, Romney has spent the past week arguing that he is the Republican best able to right a troubled economy, given his 25-year record in the private sector. He's argued that McCain, who has spent much of his life in the military and in Congress, doesn't have the qualifications necessary to lead the country out of a potential recession. McCain, in turn, has sought to beat back Romney on the issue by arguing that a president needs to be ready to lead and qualified on both national security and economics, and he offers both — despite having previously acknowledged that the economy is not his strongest suit. He also sought to rebut Romney's criticisms in an unusual fashion: he dispatched high-profile surrogates to talk with the press corps traveling with the former governor. Among them: former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge and former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift. She boarded the Romney press bus to repeat similar criticisms to reporters. ____ Associated Press Writers Glen Johnson in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Libby Quaid in Fort Myers, Fla., contributed to this report. * Email Story * IM Story * Printable View RECOMMEND THIS STORY Recommend It: Average (196 votes) 2.7 stars » Recommended Stories Full Coverage: 2008 Presidential Election Off the Wires * Obama runs away with SC primary AP, 3 minutes ago * Racial divide could hurt Obama beyond SC AP, 4 minutes ago News Stories * Obama wins in South Carolina at The Chicago Tribune (reg. req'd), Jan 27 * Obama wins South Carolina at Politico, Jan 27 Opinion & Editorials * Obama's Big Win in SC a Referendum on Clintons The Nation via Yahoo! What is the relationship between 911 and Saddam? By The Numbers On September 11th, 2001 4 Flights were hijacked. American Airlines Flight 11 which left Boston's Logan Airport bound for Los Angeles before being piloted into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.American Airlines Flight 77 which left Washington's Dulles International Airport bound for Los Angeles before being flown into the Pentagon. United Airlines Flight 93 which left Newark, N.J., bound for San Francisco before crashing in Stony Creek Township, Pa United Airlines Flight 175 which left Boston's Logan Airport bound for Los Angeles before being piloted into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Why did the mastermind behind the attacks on America of September 11th, 2001 choose these particular flight numbers? MY THEORY ABOUT THE CHOICE OF FLIGHT 93 WAS THAT 1993 WAS THE YEAR IN WHICH SADDAM FIRST TRIED TO ASSASSINATE FORMER PRESIDENT BUSH IN KUWAIT, IT WAS ALSO THE YEAR IN WHICH SADDAM HUSSEIN FIRST TRIED TO DESTROY THE WORLD TRADE CENTER. IT TURNED OUT TO BE AN UNLUCKY NUMBER FOR SADDAM HUSSEIN BECAUSE THE PASSENGERS ON FLIGHT 93 BECAME HEROES AND STOPPED THE PLANE FROM GOING INTO THE WHITE HOUSE. "White House Was Flight 93 Target http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/05/20/attack/main509535.shtml May 23, 2002 Volunteers in Shanksville this past weekend. (Photo: AP) The San Francisco-bound jet had turned toward Washington and U.S. fighter jets were flying to intercept it when it crashed. All 44 people aboard were killed. (CBS) A high-ranking al Qaeda detainee told investigators the intended target of United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed into a Pennsylvania field on Sept. 11, was the White House. Government sources said Abu Zubaydah, now in U.S. custody, is believed to be the source of the information. He is being interrogated by U.S. officials at an undisclosed location. Investigators have linked Zubaydah directly to hijackers on board Flight 93. United Flight 93 took off from Newark, N.J., and crashed in Somerset County, Pa.. A recorder on the plane and calls made to people on the ground indicate passengers fought for control with the hijackers before it went down. The San Francisco-bound jet had turned toward Washington and U.S. fighter jets were flying to intercept it when it crashed. All 44 people aboard were killed. Officials previously had assumed the White House was a likely target, but said the Capitol and CIA headquarters in McLean, Va., near Washington were other possibilities.Abu Zubaydah is believed to have played a key role in organizing the Sept. 11 attacks, officials said. As al Qaeda's top operational planner, he ran the Khalden camp in Afghanistan, where U.S. investigators have learned many of the Sept. 11 hijackers trained. This suggests Abu Zubaydah may have had direct contact with the hijackers and chosen them for training. He also had telephone contacts with at least one Arab student at U.S. flight schools, according to a July 10, 2001, memo from a Phoenix FBI agent. The CIA, FBI and Pakistani authorities captured and wounded Abu Zubaydah in a raid by in Faisalabad, Pakistan, in March. He is believed to have masterminded the failed millennium bombing plots in Los Angeles and Jordan, and has been linked to failed plots on the U.S. embassies in Paris and Sarajevo. Abu Zubaydah was also indirectly linked, through a web of associations with other al Qaeda members in Europe, to lead Sept. 11 hijacker Mohammed Atta and his cell in Hamburg, Germany. Three members of the Hamburg cell were suicide hijackers; three others are still at large. Ziad Jarrah, believed to be the pilot-hijacker of Flight 93, was a member of the Hamburg cell." http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/05/20/attack/main509535.shtml The first attack on the World Trade Center on February 26th, 1993. The February 26th, 1993 attack marked the 11th anniversary to the day of the declaration by the Reagan-Bush Administration of February 26th, 1982 that Iraq was no longer a state sponsor of terrorism and as such was eligible for American loans and grants, which it subsequently got. The February 26th, 1993 attack also marked the 2nd anniversary to the day of the liberation of Kuwait by the U.S. in the first Gulf War. Remarks at the Commemoration of the Tenth Anniversary of the Liberation of Kuwait Secretary Colin L. Powell Kuwait City, Kuwait (US Embassy) February 26, 2001 The World Trade Center was attacked by terrorists associated with Sheik Rahman on February 26th, 1993. It was Sheik Rahman's group that murdered Egyptian President Anwar Sadat on the 8th anniversary to the day of the 1973 Yom Kippur War, October 6th. Sheik Rahman's son was subsequently found with bin Laden's group in Afghanistan when the U.S. liberated Afghanistan. "White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer: we have real and credible information that the airplane that landed at the Pentagon was originally intended to hit the White House." http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/09/20010912- 8.html#intended-targets American Airlines Flight 77 which left Washington's Dulles International Airport bound for Los Angeles before being flown into the Pentagon. 7/7 is one way to write the date July 7th On July 7th, 1994 Yasser Arafat, PLO chairman drove from Egypt into Gaza, after 27 years in exile. What Arafat was doing was using the date of July 7th to re-write a perceived wrong he had felt some years earlier on another July 7th. It was on July 7th 1986 that the government of Jordan closed the offices of Yasser Arafat's al-Fatah. Because a bus bombing occurred in London on July 7th, 2005 it struck me that the nation that has endured more bus bombings than any other nation is Israel. There may be a connection between the July 7th, 2005 attacks in London and the terrorists who have targeted Israel with bus bombings for years. Recently terrorists in Iraq murdered Egypt's envoy to Iraq. "Zarqawi group reportedly killed Egyptian ambassador in Iraq Iraq-Egypt, Politics, 7/7/2005 News reports from al-Jazeera and al-Arabia satellite TV stations said that Egypt's top diplomat in Iraq to Iraq, Eyhab al-Sharif, had been executed. Meantime, Al-Qaida organization in Iraq, led by Abu Musab al- Zarqawi, had threatened in a statement on the Internet to execute the chairman of the Egyptian diplomatic mission al-Sharif. The threat to execute Sharif came a short time after al-Qaida organization in Iraq issued pictures for the identity cards of the Egyptian diplomat as an evidence that they are the ones which kidnapped him. The statement said the legitimate court of al-Qaida organization in Mesopotamia decided to "send the ambassador of the state of Egypt to the Mujahideen (indivduals from Egypt and other states that go to Iraq to fight with the insurgents) to execute the death penalty against him." The statement considered that "the embassies in Baghdad are but monitoring sites to snipe the arriving Mujahideen and preventing them from having access to their brothers in Jihad in the land of Mesopotamia (Iraq) and in Afghanistan." In an attempt to prove that the Egyptian ambassador is their possession, al-Qaida organization published documents including a driving Sharif's license and a work card for him at the foreign ministry and another one for health insurance. On Tuesday the organization claimed responsibility for kidnapping Sharif." American Airlines Flight 11 which left Boston's Logan Airport bound for Los Angeles before being piloted into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Saddam Hussein assassinated his first victim when he was 11 years old. Fixated on the number 11 ever since then he easily focused on the World Trade Center as a target because it looked so much like a number 11 that WPIX TV Channel 11 in New York City used the World Trade Center in its logo for years. The World Trade Center also housed an office of the Bank of Kuwait. Saddam used Rahman's group to punish Sadat for failing to defeat Israel in the attack on Israel of October 6th, 1973. Saddam also used Sheik Rahman's group to hit the Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament during the first Gulf War when Egypt sided with America against Iraq. Saddam, acting like a child who is deprived of a toy, who subsequently breaks that toy, set fire to the Kuwaiti oil fields as he was being driven out of Kuwait during the first Gulf War in 1991. Former President Bush's Speech to Congress September 11th 1990. 11 years to the day before September 11th 2001 "In the early morning hours of August 2d,(1990),a powerful Iraqi army invaded Kuwait. The crisis in the Persian Gulf also offers a rare opportunity to move toward an historic period of cooperation. Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective-a new world order-can emerge." White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer: we have real and credible information that the airplane that landed at the Pentagon was originally intended to hit the White House." "White House Was Flight 93 Target A high-ranking al Qaeda detainee told investigators the intended target of United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed into a Pennsylvania field on Sept. 11, was the White House. Government sources said Abu Zubaydah, now in U.S. custody, believed to be the source of the information." Perhaps the following may explain how Saddam knew where former President Bush might be spending the night of September 10th-11th 2001: "Like everyone else in the United States, the group stood transfixed as the events of September 11 unfolded. Present were former secretary of defense Frank Carlucci, former secretary of state James Baker III, and representatives of the bin Laden family. This was not some underground presidential bunker or Central Intelligence Agency interrogation room. It was the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C., the plush setting for the annual investor conference of one of the most powerful, well-connected, and secretive companies in the world: the Carlyle Group. And since September 11, this little-known company has become unexpectedly important. That the Carlyle Group had its conference on America's darkest day was mere coincidence, but there is nothing accidental about the cast of characters that this private-equity powerhouse has assembled in the 14 years since its founding. Among those associated with Carlyle are former U.S. President George Bush Sr., former U.K. Prime Minister John Major, and former President of the Philippines Fidel Ramos. And Carlyle has counted, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Alsaud of Saudi Arabia, and Osama bin Laden's family among its high-profile clientele." "The White House is bordered on three sides by buildings that are as tall or taller than itself. (OEOB, Treasury, and Blair House.) Beyond these buildings there are still more buildings, that also are taller than the White House. The only flight path that is relatively unobstructed if making a controlled, straight-in approach, is from the south, over the ellipse. Even the Marine helicopter the president uses comes in from this direction and lands on the South Lawn. The problem with flying a plane the size of a 757 or 767 in from this direction is that there's a 555 ft tall structure in the way called the Washington Monument. The Capitol, although a bigger target, is similarly situated. There are buildings on all sides except for the west side, which faces the Mall. Again, for a controlled, straight-in approach, a pilot first would need to avoid the Washington Monument, and then fly straight down the Mall. There is more room to do this, but again, it would take considerable skill. Moreover, the buildings in Roslyn, just across the river from and to the west of the Mall, would have to be cleared, which means the plane's altitude would probably be too high, or the angle of descent too steep to permit a successful attack by anyone other than a skilled, experienced pilot." To indicate September 1990 one might well write or type 9/90 It was in September of 1990 that President George Herbert Walker Bush spoke to Congress on Iraq. On September 11th, 1990 in fact. What of EgyptAir Flight 990? Weeks after the last pile of debris from EgyptAir Flight 990 was pulled from the sea, investigators say they are more convinced than ever of their original theory: The jet was crashed deliberately." "The co-pilot under scrutiny in the crash of EgyptAir Flight 990 uttered an Arabic prayer not once but as many as 10 times just before the doomed airliner went down" "Aviation Analyst John Nance Talks About Flight 990 When a commercial aircraft goes into a dive as steep and precipitous as the preliminary radar data seems to indicate." An example of terrorists striking on an anniversary came on October 7th, 2004 in Taba. "Images of Destruction | Taba Hilton Before and After Terrorist Attack on October 7, 2004" According to initial findings Naveh said, a car bomb blew up at the entrance to the Hilton Taba Hotel and there was a combined bomb and shooting attack in two restaurants usually frequented by Israelis in Ras Al-Satan." http://www.hospitalitynet.org/news/4020867.html On October 7th,2001 "America Retaliates for the September 11 Attacks. October 7, 2001 President George W. Bush Speaks to America After the Strikes Begin. "On October 7th, 1959, Saddam and others attempted, but failed, to assassinate the prime minister of Iraq. Wanted by the Iraqi government, Saddam was forced to flee. He lived in exile in Syria for three months and then moved to Egypt where he lived for three years." http://history1900s.about.com/od/saddamhussein/p/saddamhussein.htm "President Saddam Hussein chairs 48th Cabinet Session Baghdad, Oct. 22, 2001 INA President Saddam Hussein chaired on Sunday the 48th Cabinet session. The Cabinet discussed recent events of Palestinian Intifadha and praised Palestinians brave and persistent struggle for liberating their lands. The cabinet reviewed the current international situation, especially the U.S aggression on Afghanistan. The Cabinet brought back a historic stance Iraq had taken in 1979 when it condemned the military Soviet invasion of Afghanistan though Iraq had then deep relations with the Soviet Union and there was a friendship and cooperation agreement between Iraq and the Soviet Union, yet this had not prevented Iraq from taking the national independent stand rejecting Soviet's behavior. History repeats itself once again in 2001 as Iraq takes the same stance and condemns the US aggression on Afghanistan....this confirms Iraq's principled stance rejecting all forms of foreign intervention and aggressions. The Cabinet discussed issues listed on its agenda and made necessary decisions and recommendations." Saddam loves 11th anniversaries, for instance " Saddam Hussein's speech on the 11th Anniversary of the Great Victory Day In the Name of God, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful Great People, The Valiant of Our Brave Armed Forces, Sons of our Glorious Arab Nation…" "Middle East Correspondent, Robert Fisk: Why was it that the bombing of the two embassies in Tanzania and Kenya occurred on the eighth anniversary to the very day of the first arrival of American troops of the 82nd airborne in Saudi Arabia in 1990?" "The 12th of October 2002 will for the rest of Australian history be counted as a day when evil struck with indiscriminate and indescribable savagery," "On October 12th, 2000 terrorists in a boat laden with explosives carried out a suicide bombing of the U.S.S. Cole in the harbor at Aden, Yemen. In what President Clinton described as a "despicable and cowardly act," 17 U.S. sailors were killed, and over 30 others were wounded." After the liberation of Iraq terrorists struck the Baghdad Hotel on October 12th. If you add 1 to 9 you get 10. If you add 1 to 11 you get 12. Thus the 9/11/2001 attack was presaged by the attack on the U.S.S. Cole on 10/12/2000. The terrorists were engaging in what to them was a private joke regarding their plans for 9/11/2001. "Iraq has the motivation and the means to actively support the Islamist networks of the region*** In the past, there have been intelligence reports of possible cooperation between Iraq and Osama bin Laden. Iraq has already tried to assassinate President Bush Senior in 1993, when he visited Kuwait as a private citizen. In the attack on the USS Cole in Aden (in) October (of 2000), there could have been an Iraqi connection. Iraq has excellent relations with the anti-Western Yemeni Islamists of the Army of Aden-Abyan, whose militants have been arrested by the Yemenite authorities in connection with the attack. Such an attack required long preparations, technical and military skills and good operational intelligence. In addition, the explosive used in the attack was sophisticated, a "shaped charge" like a torpedo or a missile, a device not in use by terrorist organizations, and which may have come from a military stockpile." 4 DAYS BEFORE SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 Saddam's Stepson in USA "Authorities said Saffi" (Saddam's Stepson), " triggered red flags for four reasons: the family relationship to the Iraqi dictator; training at an American flight school; arrival on the eve of the Independence Day celebrations; and his only documented prior entry into the United States occurred just four days before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks." Bush on Monday November 22nd, 2004, the 41st anniversary of the JFK assassination, needs some examination. BCCI, the infamous drug-terror-arms bank that allegedly gave former President Jimmy Carter $10 million for the Carter Library, had offices in Peru, where coca leaves are grown, in Colombia, where the coca leaves are processed into cocaine, and in Castro's Cuba, and Baathist Syria and Baathist Iraq. Banks did not get offices in any of those 3 tyrannies without the approval of the tyrant. Afghanistan is the world's No. 1 producer and distributor of heroin, and illicit drug trafficking is the biggest funding source for By Rachel Ehrenfeld / Special to The Detroit News About the author Rachel Ehrenfeld is director of the New York-based Center for the Study of Corruption and the author of "Evil Money" (HarperBusiness) and "Narco-Terrorism" (Basic Books). Moving the money... In the welter of events following the bombing of the World Trade Center in Feb. 26, 1993, few noticed that the first man arrested, Mohammed Salameh—the poor, unemployed illegal immigrant— offered $5 million for bail. Where could he get this kind of money? The judge refused bail. But was the source of Salameh's offer the same as the one that funded the eight men—arrested shortly afterward—who planned to blow up Manhattan's tunnels and bridges and to assassinate public officials? Were the same money sources behind the final attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11? ... For a long time, there has been evidence that terrorist, international drug trafficking and criminal organizations use the same fund-raising methods to enrich themselves. Yet no one seemed to connect the dots. And no one seriously tried to crack down on their financing. Bin Laden's is only one among many hostile international criminal organizations, often state-sponsored, that will do whatever they can to diminish the status of the United States as the only superpower. According to a State Department report, the Taliban, who are at bin Laden's service, has the advantage of controlling the world's largest heroin production and distribution in the world. Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, the heroin production soared to hundreds of tons each year. In 1999 alone, the world production of heroin was estimated at 500 metric tons; 400 were produced by the Taliban and available to fund bin Laden and his associates worldwide. First warning The writing was on the wall on July 5, 1991, when the Bank of England shut down what was the most important Islamic bank in the world, the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI). This criminal entity was created by the Pakistani Aaga Hassan Abedi "to fight the evil influence of the West"; to help with the creation of the "Islamic Bomb"; to finance all Muslim terrorist organizations; and to launder the money that was generated mostly by illicit drug trafficking and other illegal activities, including arms trafficking. When BCCI went belly up, we learned from thousands of documents that Abu Nidal—the notorious Palestinian terrorist organization that now enjoys the hospitality of Iraq's Saddam Hussein, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hezbollah and bin Laden—had accounts in the bank. By the end of the 1980s, the "special services" provided by BCCI included access to Western humanitarian and international development funds, as well as drug money laundering, secret transfers of cash and bribes. A "Black Network," a special enforcement unit supported by Abu Nidal and other terrorist organizations, operated from Pakistan. The same Pakistan that harbored bin Laden for many years while its officials told the United States that they didn't know his whereabouts. And the same Pakistan that for decades, even according to the State Department's annual report, had been a major drug trafficking and money laundering center. Western blindness Yet, now more importantly, we also discovered that the American and British governments knew and kept the bank open for a long time. The bank "that would bribe God" was able to get away with its criminal activities for decades due to Abedi's clever portrayal of the Muslim nations as victims of Western—and particularly U.S.— "imperialism." And when the bank was shuttered, the accusation in the Muslim/Arab and Third World countries was that the U.S. and the United Kingdom governments closed the bank to curtail the growing fiscal power of Muslim countries. Like Abedi, anti-American, anti-Western terrorist and radical Muslim states and organizations, such as the Taliban, Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, the PLO, Iraq and Iran, use Western democratic rhetoric to their advantage. But it is the willful blindness, mainly toward the growing volume of drug money laundering, exercised by Western bankers on the one hand and Western politicians on the other, that makes money laundering possible, despite the many laws and international conventions to control this phenomenon. The BCCI was the first warning to the West. The second warning about the abuse of European and American financial markets by terrorist organizations, as well as their involvement in the illicit arms and drug trade, was made in February 1994 by the British National Criminal Intelligence Service (NCIS). The Organized Crime Unit of the NCIS warned that Middle East terrorist groups and states were targeting the financial centers of London, Frankfurt and other Western countries, and that they favor illegal drug trafficking, money laundering and fraud.... Clinton appeasement Despite its stated policy of not negotiating with terrorists, the Clinton administration went out of its way to appease a few of the 20th century's most notorious terror groups: the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), the PLO and the Irish Republican Army. All are heavily involved in the drug trade. On the eve of the 1993 handshake on the White House lawn between Israeli Prime Minister Yitzak Rabin and PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat, Britain's National Criminal Intelligence Service estimated the PLO's ill-gotten gains to total between $8 billion to $10 billion, with an annual income of about $1.5 billion to $2 billion from "donations, extortion, payoffs, illegal arms dealing, drug trafficking, money laundering, fraud, etc." Since then, Washington has only aided and abetted the PLO. Since the start of the Oslo process, Arafat has received at least $3 billion more from the United States and the international community, without any serious demand for accountability, according to a report this year to Congress. Arafat, in well-documented instances, has been systematically skimming off portions of these funds, as he has with monies given to him on behalf of the refugees in the camps. The PLO was in the drug trafficking business almost from the beginning. Operating from Lebanon, under Habash's able leadership and assisted by a PLO-owned shipping company SUMUD, the organization exported hashish, opium, heroin and cocaine, first to Europe and later even to the United States and Australia. In return, it obtained weapons for their war against Israel and the West, and amassed a massive treasure trove. In addition, the PLO and Arafat, who enjoy the financial and strategic support of Hussein and bin Laden, have the distinction of being the organization that promoted "suicide bombers" as a weapon. Yet the Clinton administration subsidized a multitude of radical Palestinian groups, ranging from Arafat's Fatah branch of the PLO and its military wing, the Tanzim, to the socialist-nationalist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), headed by George Habash, all with close ties to bin Laden, Iraq and Iran. ...It was the Clinton White House that, despite evidence to the contrary, removed Syria from its list of the drug trafficking countries, to entice Syria to join the "peace process" in the Middle East. The failure of that process and the compromises the United States has made to maintain an illusion of peaceful prospects had no doubt added to the Muslim radical terrorists' resolve to attack what they see as a naive and vulnerable America. In another example of self-delusion, in 1999, then Secretary of State Madeleine Albright suggested a U.S.-led coalition to negotiate with the FARC and supported Colombia President Pastrana's "land for peace" initiative, despite a report from the General Accounting Office that the FARC is running a major international criminal enterprise that, among other things, supplies hundreds of tons of cocaine and heroin to the U.S. black market. This second Clinton "land for peace" initiative gave half of Colombia to the narco-terrorist FARC, while doing nothing to diminish its violence or appetite to control the rest of the country...." (OEOB, Treasury, and Blair House.) Beyond these buildings there are still more buildings, that also are taller than the White House. Moreover, the buildings in Roslyn, just across the river from and to the west of the Mall, would have to be cleared, which means the plane's altitude would probably be too high, or the angle of descent too steep to permit a successful attack by anyone other than a skilled, experienced pilot." It is a black day in the history of America, which is tasting the bitter defeat of its crimes and disregard for peoples' will to lead a free, decent life. The massive explosions in the centers of power in America, notably the Pentagon, is a painful slap in the face of US politicians to stop their illegitimate hegemony and attempts to impose custodianship on peoples. It was no coincidence that the World Trade Center was destroyed in suicidal operations involving two planes that have broken through all US security barriers to carry the operation of the century and to express rejection of the reckless US policy. Panic has spread among US official circles, which evacuated the White House following a series of explosions. They also evacuated the Pentagon, the State Department, and Congress and closed down the airports and government institutions. "Moussaoui Says He Was to Hijack 5th Plane By MATTHEW BARAKAT, Associated Press Writer (Monday March 27, 2006) Al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui testified Monday that he and would-be shoe bomber Richard Reid were supposed to hijack a fifth airplane on Sept. 11, 2001, and fly it into the White House. Moussaoui's testimony on his own behalf stunned the courtroom. His account was in stark contrast to his previous statements in which he said the White House attack was to come later if the United States refused to release a radical Egyptian sheik imprisoned on earlier terrorist convictions. On Dec. 22, 2001, Reid was subdued by passengers when he attempted to detonate a bomb in his shoe aboard American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to Miami. There were 197 people on board. The plane was diverted to Boston, where it landed safely. Moussaoui told the court he knew the World Trade Center attack was coming and that he lied to investigators when arrested in August 2001 because he wanted it to happen. "You lied because you wanted to conceal that you were a member of al- Qaida?" prosecutor Rob Spencer asked. "That's correct," Moussaoui said. Spencer: "You lied so the plan could go forward?" Moussaoui: "That's correct." The exchange was key to the government's case that the attacks might have been averted if Moussaoui had been more cooperative following his arrest. Moussaoui told the court he knew the attacks were coming some time after August 2001 and bought a radio so he could hear them unfold. Specifically, he said he knew the World Trade Center was going to be attacked, but asserted he was not part of that plot and didn't know the details. Nineteen men pulled off the Sept. 11 attacks on New York in Washington in the worst act of terrorism ever on U.S. soil. "I had knowledge that the Twin Towers would be hit," Moussaoui said. "I didn't know the details of this." Asked by his lawyer why he signed his guilty plea in April as "the 20th hijacker," Moussaoui replied: "Because everybody used to refer to me as the 20th hijacker and it was a bit of fun." Before Moussaoui took the stand, his lawyers made a last attempt to stop him from testifying, but failed. Defense attorney Gerald Zerkin argued that his client would not be a competent witness because he has contempt for the court, only recognizes Islamic law and therefore "the affirmation he undertakes would be meaningless." Moussaoui at first denied he was to have been a fifth hijack pilot Sept. 11 but under cross examination spoke of the plan that would have him attack the White House. He said Reid was the only person he knew for sure would have been on that mission, but others were discussed. The 19 terrorists on Sept. 11 hijacked and crashed four airliners, killing nearly 3,000 people in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and on the planes. The intended target of the plane that crashed into a Pennsylvania field remains unknown. Moussaoui said he talked with an al-Qaida official in 1999 about why a 1993 bombing at the World Trade Center failed to bring the towers down. He said "was asked in the same period for the first time if I want to be a suicide pilot and I declined." Just before Moussaoui took the stand, the court heard testimony that two months before the attacks that a CIA deputy chief waited in vain for permission to tell the FBI about a "very high interest" al-Qaida operative who became one of the hijackers. The official, a senior figure in the CIA's Osama bin Laden unit, said he sought authorization on July 13, 2001, to send information to the FBI but got no response for 10 days, then asked again. As it turned out, the information on Khalid al-Mihdhar did not reach the FBI until late August. At the time, CIA officers needed permission from a special unit before passing certain intelligence on to the FBI. The official was identified only as John. His written testimony was read into the record. "John's" testimony was part of the defense's case that federal authorities missed multiple opportunities to catch hijackers and perhaps thwart the 9/11 plot. His testimony included an e-mail sent by FBI supervisor Michael Maltbie discussing Moussaoui but playing down his terrorist connections. Maltbie's e-mail said "there's no indication that (Moussaoui) had plans for any nefarious activity." He sent that e-mail to the CIA even after receiving a lengthy memo from the FBI agent who arrested Moussaoui and suspected him of being a terrorist with plans to hijack aircraft. Prosecutors argue that Moussaoui, a French citizen, thwarted a prime opportunity to track down the 9/11 hijackers and possibly unravel the plot when he was arrested in August 2001 on immigration violations and lied to the FBI about his al-Qaida membership and plans to hijack a plane. Had Moussaoui confessed, the FBI could have pursued leads that would have led them to most of the hijackers, government witnesses have testified. To win the death penalty, prosecutors must first prove that Moussaoui's actions — specifically, his lies — were directly responsible for at least one death on Sept. 11. If they fail, Moussaoui would get life in prison. ___ Associated Press Writer Michael J. Who still believes Global Warming is caused by man? Global warming ethics, pork and profits By Paul Driessen web posted February 12, 2007 The ink has barely dried on its new code of conduct, and already Congress is redefining ethics and pork to fit a global warming agenda. As Will Rogers observed, "with Congress, every time they make a joke, it's a law. And every time they make a law, it's a joke." However, life-altering, economy-wrecking climate bills are no laughing matter. That's why we need to recognize that the Kyoto Protocol and proposed "climate protection" laws will not stabilize the climate, even if CO2 is to blame. It's why we must acknowledge that money to be made, and power to be gained, from climate alarmism and symbolism is a major reason so many are getting on the climate "consensus" bandwagon. In accusing ExxonMobil of giving "more than $19 million since the late 1990s" to public policy institutes that promote climate holocaust "denial," Senate Inquisitors Olympia Snowe and Jay Rockefeller slandered both the donor and recipients. Moreover, this is less than half of what Pew Charitable Trusts and allied foundations contributed to the Pew Center on Climate Change alone over the same period. It's a pittance compared to what US environmental groups spent propagating climate chaos scare stories. It amounts to 30 cents for every $1,000 that the US, EU and UN spent since 1993 (some $80 billion all together) on global warming catastrophe research. And it ignores the fact that the Exxon grants also supported malaria control, Third World economic development and many other efforts. Aside from honest, if unfounded, fears of climate disasters, why might others support climate alarmism? Scientists who use climate change to explain environmental changes improve their chances of getting research grants from foundations, corporations – and US government programs that budget a whopping $6.5 billion for global warming in 2007. They also increase the likelihood of getting headlines and quotes in news stories: "Climate change threatens extinction of rare frogs, scientist says." Climate disaster skeptics face an uphill battle on grants, headlines and quotes. Politicians get to grandstand green credentials, cement relationships with activists who can support reelection campaigns and higher aspirations, magically transform $14-billion in alternative energy pork into ethical planetary protection, and promote policies that otherwise would raise serious eyebrows. Corporate actions that cause even one death are dealt with severely; but praise is heaped on federal mileage standards that cause hundreds of deaths, as cars are downsized and plasticized to save fuel and reduce emissions. High energy prices are denounced at congressional hearings, if due to market forces – but praised if imposed by government "to prevent climate change." Drilling in the Arctic or off our coasts is condemned, even to create jobs, tax revenues and enhanced security; but subsidizing wind power to generate 2% of our electricity is lauded, even if giant turbines despoil millions of acres and kill millions of birds. Alarmist rhetoric has also redefined corporate social responsibility, created the Climate Action Partnership and launched the emerging Enviro-Industrial Complex. Environmental activists have turned climate fears into successful fund-raising tools – and a brilliant strategy for achieving their dream of controlling global resource use, technological change and economic development, through laws, treaties, regulations and pressure campaigns. Recent developments promise to supercharge these efforts. Environmental Defense is collaborating with Morgan Stanley, to promote emission trading systems and other climate change initiatives – giving ED direct monetary and policy stakes in the banking, investment and political arenas, and in any carbon allowance or cap-and-trade programs Congress might enact. Other environmental groups, companies and Wall Street firms will no doubt follow their lead. ED designed and led the disingenuous campaign that persuaded many healthcare agencies to ban DDT, resulting in millions of deaths from malaria. Greenpeace, Sierra Club, Union of Concerned Scientists, ED and other groups still post deceitful claims about DDT on their websites, further delaying progress against this killer disease. By blaming climate change for malaria, they deflect criticism for their vile actions. Climate catastrophe claims enable activists to gain official advisory status with companies and governments on environmental issues. They also make it "ethical" for Rainforest Action Network and other pressure groups to oppose power generation in Third World countries, where few have access to electricity – and thereby keep communities perpetually impoverished. Meanwhile, Prince Charles gets lionized for appropriating 62 first class jetliner seats for his entourage of 20, on a trans-Atlantic trip to receive an environmental prize and lecture Americans on saving the Earth – because at least he didn't use his private jet. Companies in the CAP and EIC can develop and promote new product lines, using tax breaks, subsidies, legal mandates and regulatory provisions to gain competitive advantages. They get favorable coverage from the media, and kid-glove treatment from members of Congress who routinely pillory climate chaos skeptics. Some worry that this could become a license to further redefine corporate ethics, present self-interest as planet-saving altruism, and profit from questionable arrangements with environmental groups and Congress. Certainly, cap-and-trade rules will create valuable property rights and reward companies that reduce CO2 emissions, often by replacing old, inefficient, high-polluting plants that they want to retire anyway. DuPont and BP will get money for biofuels, GE for its portfolio of climate protection equipment, ADM for ethanol, Lehman Brothers for emission trading and other deals. Environmental activists will be able to influence corporate, state and federal policy, and rake in still more cash. Insurance companies can blame global warming for rate increases and coverage denials. Lobbying and deal-brokering will enter a new era. As Thenardier the innkeeper observed in Les Miserables, "When it comes to fixing prices, there are lots of tricks he knows. Jees, it's just amazing how it grows." Indeed, the opportunities to "game the system" will be limited only by one's "eco-magination." To determine the losers, look in the mirror. Activists and politicians are creating a Frankenstein climate monster on steroids. Were it real, we'd need to dismantle our economy and living standards to slay the beast. How else could we eliminate 80–90% of US and EU fossil fuel emissions by 2050, to stabilize carbon dioxide emissions and (theoretically) a climate that has always been anything but stable? Think lifestyles circa 1900, or earlier. Ponder the British environment minister's latest prescription: World War II rationing, no meat or cheese, restrictions on air travel, no veggies that aren't grown locally. France wants a new government agency that would single out, police and penalize countries that "abuse the Earth." Others want to put little solar panels on African huts, while kleptocratic dictators get millions of dollars for trading away their people's right to generate electricity and emit CO2. We should improve energy efficiency, reduce pollution, and develop new energy technologies. But when we demand immediate action to prevent exaggerated or imaginary crises, we stifle debate, railroad through programs that don't work, create enough pork to fill 50 Chicago stockyards, and impose horrendous unintended consequences on countless families. That is shortsighted and immoral.
Why does society coddle women so much and do you think this will ever change? http://www.frederica.com/writings/men-protecting-women.html Men's lives are risked even as teenagers. I have heard of places where women have their own bus stops. and ALL men are expected to protect ALL women. I have never seen a woman die for a man that she wasn't related to. http://www.ifeminists.net/introduction/editorials/2006/0426roberts.html Yup. Discrimination on ships. I bet women still survive at higher rates than men. As soon as a female POW is in trouble the whole world comes running in yet nine men were allowed to be shot. Yet when a woman dies its a big deal. And newspapers make a bigger deal out of one woman dying compared to numerous men. I have never seen a woman work long hours to support a man or family. Nor have I ever seen a woman take care of a sick or dying spouse. And how unfair is it that women get to retire earlier and don't have to sign up for the draft. Lets not even go into why women live longer. Or why men commit suicide more often than women. Or why the majority of the homeless are men. Or why divorce courts favor women. Or why women receive less punishment than men for anything. Or why 70% of husbands make more money than wives yet women do 80% of the spending. Or why And in exchange for all this women punish men. Women are allowed to hit cheating men, and men who make unwanted sexual advances. I am sure the same does not apply to men whose honor has been compromised. I have never heard of a woman attack another woman for hitting a man. Society is pretty messed up if men protect women and women abuse men. I'm generalizing here. I am sure there are numerous examples of good women. I do know families where the woman works and the man is retired. and women do die to save men both in the military. I know there are heroic women. Here is one who protected her male soldiers http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4639029n And a woman who died to protect her husband http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/416223.cms And a woman who poured her heart and soul into rescuing her husband http://www.lhj.com/relationships/can-this-marriage-be-saved/unsolvable-conflicts/my-sick-husband-got-better-and-our-marriage-got-worse/ And women who even save their husbands and fathers by beating out flames with their bare hands http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-566319/Married-couple-fighting-lives-family-barbecue-explodes-fireball.html http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9C04E4D61639E333A2575BC1A96E9C946997D6CF And women do take care of their parents. And form charities to help men. And women give more organs than men and men receive more organs than women. And I know women give more blood marrow and blood. And I have heard of women in African countries torn apart by war travel long distances to get food for their husbands and children. But in general a woman is cared for MORE and is the one who is considered to be precious and valuable and is coddled and taken care of more. Men are the nurturers of the family. Men are the ones that keep everyone together. Women expect men to do all the asking out. I'm not saying women should be facing all the rejection but what's wrong with meeting a man half way. Women are hardly the nurturing caring one's either. A man is always a woman's emotional rock. A WOMAN IS NEVER THE ONE WHO IS LESS EMOTIONAL AND HIS ROCK. SHE IS NEVER HIS NURTURER AND EMOTIONAL PROTECTOR. NO MATTER HOW FAR INTO THE RELATIONSHIP HE TAKES MORE RISKS. A woman is allowed to cry at physical pain. Women give less sympathy when partners are sick Nor have I ever seen a woman do the protective things men do for wives, and even friends such as giving up seats(and standing uncomfortably on buses for hours), getting the car in the rain, giving up jackets, carrying heavy objects, walking home, driving her home, calling a cab to take her home safely, carrying her when she falls down , calling to make sure she got home safely, holding doors, paying, walking street side and positioning himself in between her and any vicious dog or threat. Even in relationships a man gives more massages, gives up his jacket, gets the car when its raining, gives up shoes if hers breaks, gives up food, gives up the safer car, gives up the health insurance, checks on the noise downstairs, drive in unsafe conditions, gives up his umbrella, gives up his seat, has security systems installed for her, walks her home, drives her home, calls her a cab, gives more in general, calls to make sure she got home safe, comes over in the middle of night to take care of her, does more to cheer her up, carries her heavy packages, picks her up form the bus station at night, saves her and her car from a ditch, makes her feel safe, carries her when she falls down. He is more likely to step in between her and vicious dog or take a bullet for her than vice versa. He ge He gets a vasectomy so she can avoid a tubal( vasectomies are safer the tubals but a vasectomy carries the risk of YEARS of discomfort and pain(what type of woman would let a man risk that)-one guy said even if it was more unsafe he would still take the pain for his wife-no woman thinks like that).
Eurochance100 & Superchance100 - the rat behind? Concerns: "Eurochance100 and Superchance100 How they cheat you... The Trick: The "Lucky Winner" of the big chance is not one (1) out of hundred (100 or 120) - it is One (1) out of several thousand people (approximately 5-6.000) - But they will never tell you this truth. The winner is only the company organizing and not the people who pay for it. If somebody would win from those who have paid - it would really mean to hit the jack-pot. The addresses are mainly bought or they organize addresses themselves by making as example a lottery for a car in front of a shopping mall. Each participant - so to say - gives away his/hers important address data together with a personal profile. The car of course is not raffled at once - this car is travelling for one year throughout the country or even whole Europe. At the moment you will see a sign on the car (BMW) from the distributor: AutoFrey Salzburg Alpenstrasse 85 5020 Salzburg Fon: +43 662 623581 0 Fax: +43 662 623581 35 CEO and Owner: Elisabeth Frey elisabeth.frey@autofrey.at http://www.frey.at The simple-minded people, who gave away their addresses to win a car, will from now on receive phone calls which have more or less the following content: Hello Mr. xxx, we are sorry to inform you that you have not the winner of the Audi but you have been selected under 120 lucky winners, which have the opportunity to join the game EuroChanceXXX or SuperChanceXXX. As we can promise you now a 100% chance to win, so go for it and ? The number of participants is only counted incrementally and if the promoted game is not running, they will just start a new one. What is a guaranteed price/advantage? You can win? Do not forget that there is the "lottery Mafia" in front of! They will always win - only sometimes customers win - compared to the whole "Jack-Pot" a few Euros - the millions (95% of the total money) are pocketed as effort from the operators. And who is the operator? These companies are hiding behind any desired telephone numbers, as the people who are phoned are no longer willing to pickup the phone for an "unknown" number. "Telecom" will always help a customer with a bill of more than ¤ 5.000.-, makes a discount and helps these frauds and scammers as they make a very good business with these fraudulent companies. Further more these penetrating companies continuously need new employees - and the employment agencies submits a lot of people to these call-center's where also the employees are humbugged and paid low. Beyond that these fraudulent "Call-Centers" receive different furtherance's from official sites. The owners even increase their income telling their employees that times are bad right now and they have to disclaim that they release of their one's own volition for their salary (holiday-payment or their Christmas-bonus) - or the employees "self-inflicted" for 20% less payment. The owners and partners (Mafia) even cheat themselves. The CEO of "EVENTUS" Mr. Ulrich Wagner is also stealing customer addresses from the owners (Martina and Christos Figas from "Pegasus Media") and is using these contacts for himself and his own Call-Centers. The Figas family just have to carry the payment and he - "The Rat" - has the profit. So - who is now the real rat behind this rip-off in Austria and England? You may ask for that also in your cigarette shop, because they bring in the money for this Mafia.
